Bonfire Night Saftey Reminder

Bonfire Night Saftey Reminder

🎆 Bonfire Night Safety Reminder 🎆

As many of us enjoy Bonfire Night celebrations this evening, please remember to stay safe around fireworks, bonfires and open flames.

✅ Only buy fireworks from reputable retailers and ensure they carry the CE or UKCA safety mark.
✅ Follow the Firework Code and always read the instructions carefully.
✅ Keep a safe distance from fireworks and never return to a firework once it has been lit.
✅ Keep children and pets away from fireworks, bonfires, sparklers and matches.
✅ Use a torch instead of mobile phone lights when walking to and from events.
✅ Keep a bucket of water, sand or a garden hose nearby in case of emergency.
✅ Check bonfires thoroughly before lighting, as animals such as hedgehogs may seek shelter inside.
✅ Never throw aerosols, batteries, gas canisters or other hazardous items onto a bonfire.
✅ Ensure bonfires are built well away from buildings, fences, sheds and overhead cables.

Sparklers can reach temperatures of up to 1,600°C, so please handle them carefully. Wear gloves where possible, keep them away from your face and body, and place used sparklers in a bucket of water once they have cooled.

If attending a public display, follow organisers' instructions and respect any safety barriers in place.

Let's all enjoy Bonfire Night responsibly and help keep our communities safe. Stay safe and have a great evening! 🎇🚒🎆
